 Then I tried to find out quickly what is happening behind the scenes of the installer and still left confused. The version should be 23.0vcs from a file twversion.class.php and the installer should write that value into local.php or how? It is the value 22.2 and the installer is not complaining?
Also, it is possible to show the new value  on the installer via? And if that value was written into a database or a file? Which file?
$twversion = new TWVersion(); $dbversion_tiki = $twversion->getBaseVersion();
And if the installer is not able to execute what was advised by the note on the screen then it should show the reason - why? Eg can't write into local.php and so on, an so on?
I am writing those things for all tiki developers not asking to jump and fix what i find a very bad UX and coding practice but, mostly, at least, to have in mind when writing the new code.

  Hi,
I have got the same problem now on master except the installer doesn't help either.
The problem popped up when I changed language settings on my site...
Shouldn't at least tiki show here which version it is using now and which is available/required for update? Or have an addition "you can bang your head into a wall if those options don't work"?  Or distinguish that I need to update languages somehow?
The note as it is now:
====
Your database requires an update to match the current Tiki version. Please proceed to ..theinstaller... Using Tiki with an incorrect database version usually provokes errors. If you have shell (SSH) access, you can also use the following, on the command line, from the root of your Tiki installation: php console.php database:update====
which comes from installlib.php
Also, is it not possible
to check those db versions or language update requirement using other methods than this?

function requiresUpdate() // {{{ { return count(Patch::getPatches([Patch::NOT_APPLIED])) > 0; } // }}}
Ok, I am a developer and I used to dive deep and this time my intuition after 15 years with tiki helped me that I changed local.php dbversion_tiki from 22.1 to 22.2 and then installer worked.  But what about people who are very new tiki?

Maybe at least it is worth to mention to change db_version=xx in local.php  on this note?

Hi Luci,

Thank you for your answer. I did run the update command but the problem is:

When I run console.php command, whith common parameters like Index:rebuild or i:r, cache : clear or c:c, there is error messages

Example for console.php database:update, I obtain:

Command “database:update" is not defined.

Did you mean one of these?

      database:configure

      translation:englishupdate

      vcs:update

We also used the Tiki installer and it seems to have updated the database.

We didn’t encounter any problems while using the terminal with older Tiki versions.

Thanks again

David

Hi David, you need to run exactly this on the command line (terminal access via ssh):

php console.php database:update

Or you can do it through the Tiki Installer (by accessing tiki-installer.php in your browser).

Hi,

I’m getting this message (tiki-22.1) that my database needs to be updated to the actual Tiki version by using  php console.php database: update commands. Can’t make any command work. I’m getting “ Command "database:update" is not defined”. Anything to do with PHP or Tiki Console Tool? Any ideas?

Thank you
