[Tiki-devel] See activities based on categories, Since last visit (new) category filter troubles

Hello,

I have a user that asked me how he can display everything that change (create, edit) for Wiki pages, Forum discussions, tracker items and calendar but for a specific category.

He set “naturally”, using Tiki available tools, a “Since last visit (new)” module that shows a “Category” and “No Category” parameter. See : https://dev.tiki.org/item8008
And the output produced was like this : {module module="since_last_visit_new" category="125"}
As I would have tried too in fact… but that doesn’t work.

However, after re-reading the inline doc for the parameter, it seems this parameter (while passed in the code) is only here to add a condition about the module itself (display on/off) but not the content.
"see activities based on categories”… Frankly, I don’t see a case where it apply or can be useful but I can understand that “Advanced” parameters are in fact parameters applied to the outer modules functionalities (module visibility and appearance) and not the specific module functionalities (what the module do)

First, Did I understand correctly and that’s the normal behaviour ?
Second if this is the same for all modules, “Advanced” (parameters) doesn’t seems to be a good choice of word…
If all above is true, shouldn’t we clarify what “Advanced” mean ?
* Add fine print (English good wording is required) under the “Advanced” button.
* Change the word “Advanced” for something more explicit (again we need our linguist specialists I guess ;-) )

This time we need to propose a workaround. ;-)

Do we have in Tiki23 ways to display activity based on category that would fit (like since last visit new but for a specific category).

- May be a plugin List can do the job ? ...not easy for new Tiki user, setting a smarty template to compare and filter based on : Date and last user login… ?
- A different module ? (Category module changes doesn’t seem to fit the job)
- Tiki activities ?
