Hello,

On the control panel Category I see "Category defaults” and I need help to understand what it does and how (and eventually complete the doc)

——

Require certain categories to be present. If none of the categories in a given set is provided, assign a category by default. Use *7 to specify all the categories in the subtree of 7 + category 7. Can do only this for objectname matching the regex (Example: /^RND_/ = name beginning by RND_)(Optional) Can do for wiki only (optional). Rename will only reassign the categories for wiki pages.

One per line, for example: 1,4,6,*7/4:/^RND_/:wiki page

No link to a documentation
Google found 2 pages about it:
https://doc.tiki.org/Category <https://doc.tiki.org/Category> = Nothing more
https://tiki.org/forumthread39114-Settings-a-default-category-and-forcing-some-users-to-set-category <https://tiki.org/forumthread39114-Settings-a-default-category-and-forcing-some-users-to-set-category> = 10 years old, explain how it work with structures

——

I understand that with this option the admin can assign automatically a category to objects based on their type or title.
Example;

- “1,2:wiki page” will (force) add the category 1 and the category 2 to all wiki pages
- “*7:trackeritem” will (force) add the category 7 and ALL its children to all trackeritems
- “ 8:/documentation/ will (force) add the category 8 to all object with documentation in the title

1. Is that correct ?
2. Does anyone knows if there is a documentation somewhere ?
3. Does anyone use(d) this with recent version of Tiki (18,21,23) ?
4. Does it work with existing pages or work when (once set or changed) only for the new pages created ?

Thanks for helping clarifying this

Bernard
