Hi all

Marc, Victor and i just had an initial meeting about the way to proceed on https://dev.tiki.org/WYSIWYG-and-Markdown, which will be coming for Tiki 25, so i thought i should share the directions we're thinking about.

For the back-end parser, it seems to be a choice of https://packagist.org/packages/league/commonmark (which we already have and is un use by the {markdown} plugin), or https://packagist.org/packages/erusev/parsedown. Currently Victor (in charge of things server side ;) is favouring commonmark and will be investigating what needs to be changed/added/fixed over the next two weeks.

For the front-end WYSIWYG editor, Toast-UI or CKEditor 5 seem to be the front-runners, and during the meeting i changed my mind from CKEditor 5 (as i know v4 and it could replace that one day and be made to with with the legacy tiki syntax and html) to Toast-UI, as it is dedicated to doing markdown and seems to be extensible enough for us to add our plugins and other Tiki Flavour features, but also, in the same "family", they have date and time pickers, a calendar, and many other components which we could use eventually so we can replace jQuery-UI at last...

So just to keep everyone informed, and to say we're looking for other interested coders, documenters and testers to come forward if you want to be involved.

Thanks

jonny
