Hello Devs,
I have one 25.0vcs (InnoDB, git, ...) for a small personal private
office project, where I test PWA amongst other new features.
Basic idea for me to use PWA would building a small form-and-list-app
synced from the server/website to my phone and back.
The Tracker based form could be for tasks or a grocery list.
My first impression when I heard about PWA and it's Tracker/Wiki
capability was, that I could load all existing tracker items of a
Tracker or of a configured set of Trackers (or a structure of Wiki
pages, ...) into my mobile phone and after that create or edit the items
on the phone whilst being offline and later sync the update(s) to and
from the server ... at least to some extent.
*A.* What I found so far is, that when I have a Tracker opened
whilst being online, then I go offline, then I can create a
currently opened Tracker item and I can create new Tracker items, as
long as I do not leave the current page.
I managed to create a bunch of new Tracker items on the phone whilst
being offline, which got synched to the website correctly.
*B. *As far as I saw, it is not (yet?) possible in offline mode to
list (more than one) Tracker items and to work with the PWA version
of the Tiki website like it would be an app on the phone.
In my point of view there is some sort of database missing, where
the Tracker items of the user who installs the PWA are stored locally.
I like the idea of PWA quite a lot and hope, that this would allow us to
the ability to provide semi-native Tiki apps that work on phones and
tablets.
What is the mid-term goal?
Are we actively pushing a more sophisticated implementation for all
users, or did we basically connect the dexie library to Tiki to offer a
starting point for customer based further development of individual
developers?
Both aspects might have their entitlements.
Any news on the next steps of PWA implementation in Tiki are welcome.
Best regards,
Torsten
