Simile Timeline is indeed very dead but no suitable replacement had been found up to now, although i was hoping we could get h5p to do the job - i did make one custom one for a client (here https://creativeloafing.com/timeline but you need to be logged in to see it, sorry)

I added the basic template to tiki a while ago here

...but it probably need more (some) documentation ;)

Vis-timeline looks quite promising, thanks!
