Hi,

There was some private discussion about improving the impression of
Tiki's blog and news (articles) pages. If you compare other popular
blogs and news presentation pages these days, Tiki's may not be very
impressive. What do you all think about this, do you have any ideas or
criticisms about these pages (things to fix or implement or remove,
etc.)?

My sense is that these days a lot of the visual quality of blogs and
news pages comes from the content images - for example, using a related
image to illustrate a post or story and displaying it full-width (of the
column or page) above the text. So in this sense it's the author or
editor who provides the visuals, not the CSS theme, which tends to be
kind of neutral. But we should enable easy placing of images in such a
way, and other bells and whistles so that Tiki's blogs and news pages
aren't substandard in any way.

As you may recall, there was a blog revamp back in 2014 that did produce
a lot of improvements, so this may be a continuation of that work.

There's a page -
https://dev.tiki.org/Proposal-for-Blog-and-News-Pages-Redesign-2019 -
for discussion of these ideas. Please check out that page and edit to
add your views if you're so inclined.
