If you don't mind customizing your CSS, you can do something like:

Medium line:
{DIV(class="medium")}
---
{DIV}


Thick line:
{DIV(class="thick")}
---
{DIV}

And then add the CSS to your theme:

.medium hr {border-width:medium;}
.thick hr {border-width:thick;}
