Yes, i (finally) tried that out and installed it and it's pretty good (and included a link on that wiki page) but it doesn't do inventory (stock) control which is what we need for the next project (and for shopping systems generally).
I'm currently modernising the "advanced shopping cart" and cartlib on a fork here

and there's still quite a bit more to do - when it's worth testing i'll let you know!
