Sorry, no idea about the sql errors in php8+, but check the collations on the tables, specifically tiki_files and tiki_file_galleries - actually, none of them should be utf8mb3_anything, everything should be utf8mb4 since tiki 19 i thought... hmmm, sounds like something's gone wrong in there - how old is this tiki?

Re the menu layout, i heard that sometimes a vertical menu can become horizontal in 25.x, but not seen it myself - try going to tiki-admin_modules.php and editing the module and set the "Type" to "vert"?
