No reason :-)

I agree that we should "consolidate" the authentication and 
authorization component
and that we should add an entry to the roadmap.
Especially since there are so many versions already (Cocoon has one, 
Slide has one and Lenya(Wyona) has one, etc.).
JAAS is certainly an option, but I think we are not ready yet to make a 
decision.

The goal is certainly to make it independent. Although the current Lenya 
implemention
already allows you to make it independent of Lenya :-)
