I wouldn't try to use an "off the shelf" solution by all means. We 
agreed that we want to do that, but only if it makes sense, e.g. if the 
solution is stable and maintained, meets our needs, and is not too much 
of an effort to integrate. My concern is that integrating one of the 
existing - not yet very convincing - workflow engines is more of an 
effort than building something ourselves. I suggest to follow the path 
that Andreas described.
