Hi list,

this afternoon while walking along the river I've got an idea for a
very special application based on cocoon w/ wyona. And now I'm
interested in your thoughts about it. Maybe my idea could also be a
great thing to show the possibilites of wyona in an other context
than publishing a web-site. so what's the idea. Well, it's quite
simple:

Every user has a webbrowser, most users have more than one.
Every user stores it's bookmarks within the browser
Most users have different bookmark files (one for each browser...)
Most users won't find the bookmark they are looking for
And very often, if they find a bookmark, it is no longer valid

I think, as far as it goes, we all know it, because it's part of our
live. My idea actually is, to store all bookmarks in one place, and
to be able to manage them trough a browser. Or simply said, I'd like
to have only one interface to manage all my bookmarks. How could this
be achieved?

- All content elements (eq. the bookmarks) are stored in XML
- To each content element comments and other data might
    be added
- Editing the contents might be done by using Xopus
- Managing the contents is supported by wyona
- A possibility to search trough all contents might be
   implemented (lucene?)
- different Output formats (for example Opera stores the bookmarks totally
different from Mozilla) can be generated for "native" usage in a
    browser via XSLT
- Importing bookmarks from different browsers is achieved
   with use of XSLT
- Storing the bookmarks from different users shouldn't
   be a problem with a CMS (?!?)
- Ability to sydicate the bookmarks to a portal (ex. my-bookmarks
   on an intranet)
- A "link checker" can be implemented (see cocoon/mount/linkstatus/)

So, what do you think about it? I know, it's just a very young idea
and it shows quite a different way of using a CMS. Anyhow, I think
one of the biggest problem with such an application will be to find
a solution to easily add a new bookmark...
