If the latest applications are the ones that follow the new standards
more closely, I think I might try the other way round - start with one
of them and then slot in the functionality from the other publications. 
Is this much harder than copying whatever features might not work from a
'modern' publication?  Take into account that I have only been looking
at lenya for a couple of days, so I still don't have a clue how it
works. :)
