I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the official line, but as far as i
know most developers work with the CVS version and I think it's
definitely moving towards a stable release.

We will base our customer projects on a stable release which is
evolving from CVS. There will be a stable release (see the roadmap and
also a status mail which I'll send shortly). That's why we're also
hoping for a stable Cocoon 2.1 within a couple of months.
