I'll try to test this on SF - if it works, it's much cleaner
than my quick & dirty hack in bug 4124 :-)

The original ADODB issue of bug 3216 still isn't solved though,
which is why I assigned the rolesquery dbconn fixes to bug 4124
rather than bug 3216...

Also the path issue for exceptions in shutdown functions isn't
covered.
