Well, that's exactly what the dd query function is supposed to provide
(next to prototyping queries for use in DD tags), yes :-)

Of course, it could use some TLC for improvement, and the meta table
(and multi-database) stuff needs to be better integrated, but that's the
direction I had in mind...
