People seem to be having trouble reading them for some reason.

I posted a link in the first post to the FSF FAQ.
They themselves advocate a single legal entity holding all the copyright.
Apache do it, I think Mozilla to do.
The FSF are happy to have you assign the copyright to them if you have 
noone else to do so.

So thats why its assigned to a legal company.

As to why we are asking devs to assign it to the DDF? Well becuase its a 
legal company we control. Yes we could have assigned it to the FSF. But 
Apache doesnt and it was their model we were basing the DDF on. The DDF 
is totally dedicated to Xaraya and has its best interests at heart - it 
has to really since its entire membership are Xaraya core developers.

Everyone seems to think this is some huge change that will affect 
everyone. The simple fact is, if you didn't already know then it wont 
affect you. This only affects submissions to the main core of Xaraya. It 
doesnt affect module developers, theme developers or anyone else. Since 
the only people who have currently submitted code for the Xaraya core 
are part of the DDF we dont see it as a problem. So in fact every Xaraya 
core developer voted unanimously in favour of the added legal protection 
given from a single copyright holder.

Others seem to have trust issues. Its open source software - it will 
stay open source software. The DDF bylaws mandate the use of an OSI 
approved license, anyone trying something different could be removed 
from the DDF in the time it takes for the members to have a quick vote 
on the issue - so please no more worries there. Besides if you didn't 
trust the Xaraya team then you wouldn't be interested in the software 
would you :-)

I'm sorry the website isn't available yet - the information that will be 
going up there should help alleviate some people's concerns. Hopefully 
the website will be going live very shortly.

In the meantime please let me know of any concerns. Many of the 
questions so far have been valid concerns arising from a lack of 
information on the issue, I hope I have helped to alleviate those 
concerns - if not please do let me know.
