So does everyone from time to time, particularly when attacked on an incorrect assumption. Particularly when after such a misunderstanding has been explained, and clarified, and "apologized" for, the person who began the attack not only does not let it drop, but moves off onto a completely different tangent, a tangent for which he has no firsthand information, no firsthand experience, and absolutely no clue about that of which he speaks. Particularly when people find themselves "reported" to an outside agency which does not have, never has had, and never will have any authority over them. Particularly when people find themselves, their beliefs, and their very moral fibre not only questioned but slandered, belittled, distorted, and maligned by individuals who have never even met them. > Most of the problems we face now stem from the in fighting we > wittnessed back in the early days of the PostNuke core development > group. These are your opinions, and you're welcome to them. But under no circumstance should we, or any other group of people who disagree with you, fall in line with what you think we should be doing. > Perhaps we simply need new leadership or a more democratic community. > I personally love Xaraya and PostNuke. Great. Wonderful. So do I. But there's this one little point you're missing here, Greg. The only "we" who has any say in the Xaraya leadership is the "we" who are part of the project. Should you ever join our team, then you can speak of "our" need for new leadership. "We" are quite happy with who and what we have now. > Agreed. Maybe we need a completely new paradigm. If you think Xanthia needs a new paradigm then by all means, create one. > Harry was left as the defualt project leader. I don't think he was > elected through a democratic vote. Regardless Harry and John are at > the mercy of the general communty. Project leaders come and go... GPL > code lasts forever. Harry is at the mercy of the general community. John is at the mercy of no one. Xaraya has no community. Xaraya has no stable release. Xaraya has no beta project. Besides, John isn't the only one in charge. > Zoom did adress the 'Open Letter to the PostNuke Community' but it > seems the link is now missing... hmmmm. No, he didn't. Don't ask Harry questions on this list. If you have a question for Harry, take it to him. Don't clog our lists up with questions to him. > I like Block Layout in concept and Encompass. You want the Xaraya codebase? Take it. It's GPL. We can't stop you. Knock yourself out with it. But "moving in on" is rather strong wording for "adapting and modifying." Do you have something else in mind here? > I'm not putting credits on Xarara. I'm holding the DDF accountable for > present and future actions. That's what a mission statement represents. Any good business > plan has a mission statement ;) OK, Greg, here's the fact. Plain and simple so you can understand it. The DDF does have a mission statement. The fact that you've not seen it does not make it non-existant. I'm so sorry that they forgot to include you in the list of people they notified. What with making sure they held to the letter of the law, and the spirit of their own bylaws, they simply must have forgotten that you are to be notified of each and every single decision and statement they make. It does not matter what you can and cannot see. The DDF is not "joining" the FSF. Have a problem with that? Fine. Either keep it to yourself or express that in a valid manner, which is to the DDF.public list. Do not continue clogging the Xaraya lists with your opinions on the DDF. No matter what your view of your actions over the past three days may be, the fact remains that you have NOT satisified yourself with expressing your concerns. You have moved into speculation and theory, based on nothing, and begun contributing to a course of discussion that has attempted, without succeeding, in destroying the reputations not only of a legal corporation but also of the people, damn good people, who work for it. You have not expressed concern over the DDF's method of operation. You have expressed contempt for the fact that they dare to exist without your blessing. You have not raised valid concerns over the standard operating procedure of a legal entity. You have questioned the morals of individual people, labeled them as unreliable and untrustworthy. Not your words, Greg, but you stood behind them. When *you* and you alone decided that the DDF should not exist, *you* and you alone took it upon yourself to "notify the authorities." You and you alone took it upon yourself to "report" them. You and you alone decided that the unvalidated opinion of a *webmaster* was to be taken as thought it had been spoken by RMS himself. Now, you tell me. Who seems the reactionary here? <snip> > Agreed. It's time for action not talk. > > Greg Then with all due respect...shut up. bri
