in the market, we call this a GIS... Global Integration System...

1-the main core thingy is a auth system... IBF have a solid auth system.

2-second part is a sharing system. based on requests, the first level of
sharing system is a forum... IBF is a solid forum.
3-third point, a global interface that we can modify and reconfigure for
each part of the website, without changing the whole design of it...
that's the main use of the API... using the the auth system around the
core.
4-after that, we talk about integration of modules -- modules are not
modifications, but additions ...mostly plug-and-play tools. this is the
main point in a CMS/Portal... how to deal with external stuff... this is
the biggest part here, building a protocol that all coders will be able
to follow/dealwith so we can share our tools without forcing the main
coder to build everything ...
5-expansion of the service... making it a Portal... using external
resources to build internal solutions.

---------
end of quote.

you know Xaraya and IPB are both going that direction. Xaraya is
entering the boards, gallery, etc. domain.

IPB i entering the CMS, gallery, etc. domain.

Mere competition? Or everybody just want to be the 1st to offer a true
GIS?

I'll agree that IPB is solid and good. But so DO Xaraya!

And a GIS is a good one. Why don't the two teams try to open up to each
other since both team has proven to be "QUALITY", "SECURED", and full of
new ideas on how to do things?

Xaraya has introduced alot of new stuffs and ways. IPB as well (with
their upcoming IPBv2).

Combine the two you get a true GIS. But no one cares to combine the
two. There's division instead of unity. There's strength in unity.
Xaraya has proven to be better than nukes and other CMS. On the other
hand, IPBv2 has already shown that it surpassed vBulletin. Isn't it
time to share minds?

A true GIS - xarVision ;p (ok that's a lame title ;p ) but you do get
the meaning so back to work.
