"nevermind" button

Silly question: why don't forums have a "never mind" button that will let
the person who started a topic remove (or hide) the whole thread. So many
times I waste time reading someones posting a question, and it turns out to
be a user error (not on xaraya.com of course, but many other forums :) and
the topic is moot.
