The FSF is the principal organizational sponsor of the GNU. The GNU 
uses the ``copyleft'' to protect the legal freedoms of developers. We 
are building a foundation on the philosophy of the FSF and principles 
of the GNU GPL.

The GNU GPL requires that all future released and improved software 
versions be Free Software so we can avoid the risk of having to 
compete with a proprietary modified version of our own work in the 
future. The philosophy behind Free Software is where the FSF comes 
into the picture. It seems the GNU and FSF are almost inseparable.
