First off, I'd like to comment that this is a great discussion, and from
my perspective, this is one of the issues that is fairly important on
improving Xaraya's image.

Ideally, or at least my guess at what would be ideal, a 'support' forum
on the site would cross-post to a support list and visa versa. That way
the devs who prefer to avoid the forums altogether can do so, yet still
provide support, and populate the site with valuable information AND
fresh material.

The community sees activity in the forums, and says 'hey.. look people
are posting on the forums! Cool!' and the circle of enthusiasm grows.

I would say that the bridge of communication is important, and would be
a big step forward in connecting the two separate communities (forum vs
lists) and hope this does come to fruition. It also demonstrates the
many ways Xaraya can be used to communicate through various means.

I don't like the idea of Google Groups though... they seem like a cheesy
solution, when you have the power of Xaraya at your finger tips to do
something more impressive.
