This conversation is interesting in that for me in that the content illustrates a few things. Most noteably that there are multiple problems raised in this thread that is not recognized, that are being treated as one problem and trying to be solved with one solution The problems I see raised are (and some may overlap to a degree but are separate problems): 1. The initial one: how to enable those posting on the forums see what is happening on the mailing lists and vice-a-versa? 2. How to increase the usage of forums for support? 3. How to increase traffic to the website? 4. How to provide an all in one 'support' area for xaraya users? 5. Do we recognize that 'development discussion' can be quite different to providing 'xaraya support', and if so, what can we do to promote 'development discussion' and what environment best suits it (ie low noise to signal ratio, reduce input from non-developers to keep on track ..., etc) 6. What is the best place(s) to provide critical announcements to the xaraya community? And many more .... :) Thus, there will not be a correct solution found imho before a few things are done: 1. Set out some objectives for the xaraya project and use these as a general basis for making some decisions on other areas 2. Divide up the problems that fall out of this (eg perhaps some of the questions i posed above will be not significant or one more priority than another, or can be grouped) and find a solution for those. One thing i think we shouldn't do is base solutions based on the current level of activity on the forums and development lists alone. The solutions should be based on defining the actual problem in the context of overall project objectives. -- Jo -- http://xarigami.com :: Creative web development with Xaraya http://2skies.com :: Open source hosting and development
