I think you are going way over the top on this one. If there is a problem, then
it needs to be fixed. The issue is a unilateral removal of existing copyright
notices without any attempt to put an alternative in place first.

As MrB has said, time and time again, it is the best we have until we have an
alternative. You can't just ignore it. An alternative has to be found first.
