My, my, this has gotten quite heated.

Unless I've missed something, the phrase 'IANAL' applies to everyone
here. As such, the PMC assigned Robert the task of getting qualified
legal opinion on the status of the DDF, and our copyright situation.
Until he reports those findings, let's all cool down. It will take time
to resolve these issues, we MUST be patient. The DDF is clouded by
unknowns; the PMC is taking a cautious approach to clearing things up.

Was the change of the copyright notice ideal? No. If reverting that
change is satisfactory, then it should be done.

Was it wholly removed? No. A temporary placeholder was inserted
instead, which should indicate that this change was not malicious. If
not, then there are debilitating trust issues lurking around this project.

Several people have indicated (to me, maybe elsewhere) that they've lost
interest in Xaraya because it isn't fun anymore. It seems to me that 33
posts in 2 threads about copyright is an example of why, not to mention
all the past discussions. I realize copyright is important, but is it
important enough to stall everything else?

Xaraya has made many mistakes. We can either wallow in that mud and
thow it at each other, or we can climb out and clean up. I vote for the
latter.
