Not edit during runtime, i meant editting during development.

It depends on who will work on it. You're the sole developer on "2.x"
now, just as I was it for a year too. It was something I found
interesting to work on and considered a way to move forward. The
technique has the potential to offer developers a simple way to add
tags and thus making the life for implementors/templaters a lot easier.

If 'mainstream' means that people who do not write their own modules
should be exposed to it, I don't know. I would like it, if there was a
way that XSL would trickle into 'userland' but XSL is still not very
well understood I'm afraid.

As an instrument to manipulate content I find XSL indispensible. Others
may prefer something else. Being strict about semantics and validity is
probably something I am more paranoid about than others. If it were
up to me we'd get rid of HTML entirely :D
