They are articles on the site for easy editing and collaborative working.

Much as I would like everyone to be using docbook and bitkeeper it was 
never going to work - so we use the model that works best for the task 
at hand.

Revision control of the content is handled by the changelog module.
The workflow module can also be used. TinyMCE can be used for WYSIWYG 
editing if you like.

They are submitted rather than published for the rather obvious reason 
that they aren't ready yet :-)

They will be available in other formats once complete - we know PDF 
export is possible. Exporting to plaintext is incredibly easy so thats 
not a problem - though I'm not sure its really worth bothering with that.
HTML and PDF should be quite sufficient.

Baraboom is looking after all this though really.
