Re: bigger sites, displaying content

I was going to ask this question, but happened to run across this first. 
    Is there anyway to manipulate the articles view.php to use different 
templates based on category, this would really help me out a lot.  I 
want to be able to push articles to the article frontpage, but have a 
different template for certain categories such as user commentary.  As 
it is right now i have to create a new pub type to have a different 
template and then as far as I can tell there's not a way to get it on 
the front page without hacking.  Can anyone shed any light on this for us?
