Quite sure this isn't the right place for this, but anyway:
could this be done via a Navigation module? It should handle basically
content zones and friendly names for modules. Such as Downloads =>
Products, which would be the friendly, short, ML, URL. It could allow
some grouping of content/modules too. Correct me if needed, but in
some level this is being addressed by BL, right?

Then, these divisions/groups/services names would be used in menu
blocks, "realms", breadcrumbs, site maps, etc.

If I got it correctly, you meant that a module dev must provide this
option. Of course, site admin can choose what fits better. Is it like
