Content Variances - Best Practices

Hi,

I have a question about Best Practices around dividing up content on a site
into various formats, based on who "owns" that area of a site.

Here is the situation. As a favor to my brother-in-law, I have said to him I
would develop a site for his family that would allow each family member to
maintain his or her specific area of the site (a family portal, so to
speak). What makes it tricky is that each family member (there are five of
them), wants differing types of content. One wants a Blog, while another
doesn't. One wants a Photo Gallery, while others don't. And the list of
variances goes on...

Having looked through the various Modules available through Xaraya, I think
I can provide all of the various types of features that have been requested.
So what I need to know is the best way of organizing a site so that each
registered member can be configured along the lines of being presented with
the various types of features that they have requested?

I have read about options around managing site content through Categories,
Article Publication Types, Security Privileges, Multi-Sites, Realms,
Xarpages, etc...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how they would handle such a situation?
I am guessing it will be a combination of these or other features. But any
recommendations whatsoever would be most appreciated.

Cheers,
