Uploads problem: Bad Data Not an array

Happy Holidays,

I have a problem with the File Uploads dynamicdata field.  I have 
several dynamicdata filed hooked to the user's role info and would like 
to attach signed documents to their account, so I added a File Upload 
field, status Display Only, blank validation and default fields.  When I 
attempt to modify a role by uploading a document Xaraya fails with:


      Bad Data

Not an array: ""


      Problem:

The value provided during this operation could not be validated, or was 
not accepted for other reasons.

I can upload a file successfully using the uploads module itself, but 
not with the roles module.  I am stumped as to what the problem is and 
would appreciate any help.  I am using Xaraya 1.1.2 and uploads 1.0.0
