searching comments problem

I'm wanting to enable comments to be searched but I get an error of an
"undefined index xar_branchout" in view-threaded.xd. I saw a bug
report on the problem from way back and am wondering how to fix or
install an updated file? Is there a fix to this somewhere? I
downloaded the latest view-threaded.xd file but it isn't working
either. Same error. Anyway this could be fixed?

Not sure where to post this, so I posted to both user and devel groups.
