I would say that 256 would be sufficient but it does depend on other factors. A good hosting provider should provide you with an easy upgrade path if needed. So you could start with 256 and see how it goes. If you need an upgrade then it 'should' simply be a question of the hosting company increasing the quotas, a matter of minutes. Also, I might point out that your numbers don't really add up... 8000 hits is about 400 visitors, which is 15/hour or one every four minutes. Assuming you mean 8000 visitors, that is 340/hour (5/min or 1 per 12 secs). You are unlikely to have more than two concurrent users at any one time.
