Xaraya mail: spaces inserted between each character

Hi everybody,

This is cross-posted from the Xaraya forums:

I've been Googling around and found some mention of a php plugin called
spacify that is bundled with smarty. The only mention I find of smarty is in
the commerce module which I don't have installed.

I'm sorry, I'm not a php programmer, it's all I can do to keep my head
around the xhtml and css necessary to build my site. Does anyone have any
ideas?
