Performance issue on dedicated server

 

 

Hi all.

 

I'm a having a performance issue and I'd like to share with the community.

 

I have setup a catalog xaraya site (http://www.eurobath.gr
<http://www.eurobath.gr/> ) and recently we started experience server
lockups. Sometimes we receive a message

"Normal Xaraya error processing has stopped because of an error encountered.

The last registered error message is: 
PHP Error code: 2
At:
/var/www/vhosts/eurobath.gr/httpdocs/xaradodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php
(Line: 355) mysql_connect(): Too many connections

"

while other times the site is just unresponsive.

In both cases the only solution is a server restart.

 

The site is hosted on a entry-level dedicated server (80GB HDD, 512MB,
Pentium 4/2.4 Ghz) without any other websites on the same platform. 

However recently we have experienced great increase in traffic (we now have
more than 1100 Avg visitors per day with the peak being 3160). Pageviews
peak is close to 32000 per day.

Xaraya version is 1.1.2. I have also enabled xarCacheManager with page level
caching, which helps but seems not to be enough.

 

What do you think ? Is there anything else that can be done, sort of
upgrading the server ? Are there any similar cases in the Xaraya community
with similar server loads ?
