Dear zms-developers, I would like to know what the ZMS users/developers think about changing/extend a basic publishing concept: ZMS does not render the object classes ZMSfile and ZMSlink within the content float but considers them as contextual content. After a 5 years experience we have to admit that still a lot of the editors have difficulties to accept this kind of content presentation; to cope with the problem they usually configure a Special Object like "downloadfile" for a in-place rendering. So I would like to discuss a suggestion for changing the basic rendering of ZMSFile/ZMSLink as in-place objects both within the body float and the teaser column. So the editor can explicitly decide where this content object is presented. This might be more intuitive. The are two pathways for improving the placing feature this way: ------------- 1. maintaining the simple content model of ZMSFile/ZMSLink and migrating the objects into a teaser container - if former view is preferred. ------------- Advantage: Ease of Use Disadvantage: After updating the objects have to be transferred to a teaser container ------------- 2. extending the content model for explicitly "distributing" the objects via an added meta element Advantange: ------------- After updating no changes have to be done Disadvantage: Added meta element must be set (reduced usability) Please fill in our survey: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/zms-developers/surveys?id=2306330 Better ideas? Thank you very much for your input, best regards fh, moderator
