I always use ZEXP. I did not check the new 2.11.0, yet. But normally, ZEXP-transfer (export/import) should work, at least for subsequent versions. IMPORTANT: After import, the fist click onto the "content"-Object starts the upgrade of the content model. You should see a message "Updated object-model from build #xxx to #yyy". That moves only (part of) the content and will not migrate the templates. But it is ok (or even better), if you did not apply any changes to the standard ZMS templates.
