Could you please further explain this?

Let's say I have a field "navigationelements" in my content object  
that displays "Menüpunkte" in the german ZMS interface.
Now I want the form to display "navigation elements" instead of the  
german title when the user switches to the english interface.

I tried adding a language string titles navigationelements and  
translated it for the english language but the german one still shows  
up in the form.
