I don't recall how I installed gpc.

I don't know the version of Xcode, but I just installed it from Apple
a few days ago since it wasn't on my machine.

Do you have a recommendation for what version to reinstall?  I got
somewhat lost in all the versions, mac versions and ancient (!) alpha
versions out there.
