You should be able to get a bit more information about what is causing
configure to fail by looking at the log files for configure.  In each
directory (in your case 'jtc') there should be a file called 'config.log'
which should have the full output from the configuration process.  Could
you forward this file along (OB-4.1.2/jtc/config.log) so that we can see 
what sort of error you are getting?

Solaris 9 using Sun C++ 5.7 is not one of the supported platforms for the 
4.1.2 release of Orbacus.  As a result, we have not tested 4.1.2 on this
platform.  It may be possible to compile 4.1.2 using this platform/compiler 
configuration, but we can not guarantee this.

The IMR is only available in the full version of Orbacus 4.3.0.  You can
purchase the full version of Orbacus for $99 from the Orbacus website 
(http://www.orbacus.com/).

We are not aware of any issues in doing this.  You should be alright using 
different versions of Orbacus for your client and server.
