Extended deadline, new version of Webots & new contest

Hi, 

Due some schedule problems (I will be in New Orleans on April 30th). The 
deadline for the end of the contest is extended to May 7th, 2004. The final 
round will run on this day and the winner of the round will receive the 
prize. 

In the meanwhile, I would like to release a new version of Webots to be used 
for the contest which fixes a number of issues with servos (especially 
related with limits). This will prevent some robots to do some impossible 
moves over the limits and will fix issues with the sign of the servo 
positions as displayed in the GUI controls. So, this might have a slight 
incidence on the behavior of some robots, but I tested it with FreeTime and 
it seems it doesn't change anything in the behavior of this robot... The new 
release will be made available and officially used at least 30 days before 
the end of the contest and will probably be the last new version before the 
end of the contest. 

We are now preparing a new edition of this contest which will be called 
ROBOKA and will be a kind of continuation of the current contest with a few 
improvements: 

(1) The contest will have its own redesigned web site: www.roboka.org
(2) The robots won't be allowed to fall / recover more than three times.
(3) Collision detection between the joints of the same robot will prevent 
self collision.
(4) The 3D view will display more information (like the 5 seconds count down 
when a robot is down and the result of a match: KO, time over, best 
distance, etc.)
(5) The most interesting parts of the Wiki pages will be reorganized into a 
FAQ 

At this point many issues are open, I really appreciate your input to 
improve the organization of the contest. 

Also, if you believe that point (2), (3) or (4) should be implemented before 
the end of the contest, let me know. If there is a consensus on these 
issues, we may proceed rapidly. 

By the way, congratulation to FreeTime for keeping rank 1 for so long! Still 
a bit more than one month to defend that position...
