Needles to say, we think the threshold should remain for this contest.
However, we would like to respond to the question whether Bob fits the
definition of a humanoid. Well, on one hand it doesn't, humans normally
do not walk on there knees. But on the other hand, if you look at the
characteristics of the locomotion it has some human traits,
specifically, it is stable and agile. Even though the stability is not
due to sensing (as is the case with humans) and even though the robot
is not walking on its feet, from an AI perspective the locomotion can
be treated just as if it really was human. So, in a way, Bob is more
humanoid than those robots performing turns as a separate move. Now we
are a bit biased, but we think Bob is a pretty fair player.
