New Webots contest

Hi,

We now have some official news on the new Roboka contest:

The new Roboka contest will be based on Aibo robots (no humanoid any 
more). It will start in January 2006 and last for about 6 months. The 
game will be an Aibo park populated with 6-8 Aibos and 3-4 battery 
chargers. A robot won't be allowed to recharge twice in a row on the 
same charger. There will be obstacles and difficulties to go from one 
charger to another (i.e, steps, mazes, traps, problems to solve, etc.). 
The Aibo park will run 7/24. When a robot dies because it is running low 
battery, the robot brain is replaced by a new competitor starting with a 
full battery. Hence there will be permanently 6-8 Aibos inside the park 
and all the other competitors will be waiting their turn in the "hall" 
of the park. The winner will be the robot with the longest average life 
time in the park (averaged over the last 5 runs or so).

The simulated Aibo park will be built in such a way that it is possible 
to build a real work replica of it (we may do it in the future).

At the begining, a single Aibo park will be used for the contest. In the 
near future, we will offer universities to host their own Aibo park and 
integrate them into the contest.
