The Patel Lab in the database group at the University of Wisconsin, is looking for an experienced software architect and developer to help design and build the next generation of database technology that makes it far more efficient to extract insights from vast volumes of complex data. There are currently two key projects in this space, namely Quickstep and Ava and over time new projects may get added. Quickstep is an Apache (incubating) project. Both projects require extensive experience in C++ and requires experience in building data processing/analysis methods, and requires leadership in reaching out to develop a broader community of developers and users for the systems.

An ideal person will have more than 5 years of experience developing data platform related technologies using C++. Applicants must also have demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining build infrastructure, and skills and patience to engage in agile test-driven software development principles. Demonstrated ability to work with graduate students on a large project is an additional plus.
