ETH Zurich’s Professorship for Computational Social Science (Prof. Dirk Helbing) invites applications for a
Postdoctoral position in Big Data and Data Science
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in the area of Big Data and Data Science with a particular focus on Social Mining within a EU funded project, SoBigData. The project aims to establish a Social Mining and Big Data Ecosystem for ethically sensitive scientific discoveries and advanced applications of social data mining to the various dimensions of social life.
The ideal candidate shall pursue exciting research in the areas of Big Data, social data analytics, machine learning, large-scale networks, deep learning, participatory smart cities platforms, and/or in connection with the Nervousnet.info platform.
Candidates are required to have a PhD in Computer Science or Physics and proven technical knowledge of Big Data tools and algorithms (Hadoop, Spark, Mahout) and hands-on experience of at least one year as well as advanced skills in computer programming. Previous experience with Social Mining and Social Network Analysis is a plus.
The candidate must also possess excellent English language skills, social skills, team spirit, and international experience, and must be able and willing to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
