Siemens Corporate Technology is the central unit for research and innovation of Siemens AG. Our research group of Software Architecture Definition and Management, located in Erlangen and Munich, currently has an open position for a Ph.D. Student on the topic "Software Architectures for Software Ecosystems". Please find a detailed description of the topic below. Feel free to contact [email protected] for more details. The official position announcement and application details can be found at: https://jobsearch.siemens.biz/career?career_ns=job_listing&company=Siemens&career_job_req_id=248163 We are looking forward to your application. Best regards, Dr. Christoph Elsner Senior Key Expert / Software Architect --- Ph.D. Student - Technology Field "Software and Systems Innovation" --- Short Description As a Ph.D. student, you will develop an approach and tooling for designing and evolving software architectures for software ecosystems that are capable of fast, data-driven feedback, to iteratively set up and improve the software system. Detailed Description Digitalization already changed our private lives and will soon revolutionize industrial companies' businesses. Monolithic products provided by a single company will be replaced by microservice-based platforms that can be flexibly extended by add-ons of third parties, establishing software ecosystems. Long term release cycles and business planning will be displaced by agile and iterative continuous delivery and quick adaptation of software and business models based on collected customer data and customer co-creation. Both trends, the setup of software ecosystems and customer-data-driven software evolution, become more and more established in software-only businesses. Siemens, as a thought-leader in industrial automation, is committed to bringing these new modes of thinking to its established industrial businesses, paving the way to industrial digitalization. In this context, we are looking for you as a Ph.D. student to address with us the following topics for software architectures of Siemens Business Units: - Design of software architectures to quickly validate or disprove new features and software ecosystem business ideas. - Integration of fast feedback loops and customer-data-driven software evolution approaches into existing industrial software architectures. - Iterative derivation and evolution of software architectures for software ecosystems. The definite research topic will be identified in joint cooperation with the individual candidates. _______________________________________________ Please do not post msgs that are not relevant to the database community at large.
