Call for Applications: 9 PhD positions in Data Science, Data Mining, and Machine Learning 

The Helmholtz School for Marine Data Science (MarDATA) is looking for graduates in computer science, computer engineering, applied mathematics (and the like) to fill 9 PhD positions (full position E13, 36 month) in computer science and marine data science at GEOMAR in Kiel, Germany.

In 9 predefined topics, doctoral candidates (PhD researchers) will address research questions on the interface between data science and marine science and will help to decrypt an #oceanfullofdata. About MarDATA:
The graduate school “Helmholtz School for Marine Data Science” (MarDATA), financed by the Helmholtz Association, aims to define and educate a new type of “marine data scientist” by introducing and embedding researchers from computer sciences and mathematics into ocean sciences, covering a broad range from supercomputing and modeling  (bio)informatics, robotics, to statistics and big data methodologies. Education of doctoral researchers in joint block courses, international summer schools and colloquia goes beyond a single discipline towards genuine scientific insight into and a more systematic treatment of marine data.
