** INTRODUCTION **

HistoInformatics2021 - the 6th International Workshop on Computational Hist=
ory will be held on September 30th, 2021 in conjunction with The ACM/IEEE-C=
S Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL2021). The HistoInformatics wo=
rkshop series brings together researchers in the historical disciplines, co=
mputer science and associated disciplines as well as the cultural heritage =
sector. Historians, like other humanists, show keen interests in computatio=
nal approaches to the study and processing of digitized sources (usually te=
xt, images, audio). In computer science, experimental tools and methods sta=
nd the challenge to be validated regarding their relevance for real-world q=
uestions and applications. The HistoInformatics workshop series is designed=
 to bring researchers in both fields together, to discuss best practices as=
 well as possible future collaborations. =

** THEMES AND TOPICS **

We invite papers from a wide range of topics which are of relevance for his=
tory, the cultural heritage sector and the humanities in general. Besides o=
riginal research papers, we also invite submissions of diverse types includ=
ing position papers, project descriptions, or demo type papers. The worksho=
p targets researchers who work on the intersections of history and computer=
 science. The papers on the following and related topics (but not limited t=
o) are especially welcome:

	=E2=80=A2	Named entity recognition and disambiguation
	=E2=80=A2	Entity relationship extraction, detecting and resolving historic=

	=E2=80=A2	Computational linguistics for old texts
	=E2=80=A2	Analysis of language change over time
	=E2=80=A2	Modelling evolution of entities and relationships over time

	=E2=80=A2	Simulating and recreating the past course of actions, social rel=
ations, motivations, figurations
	=E2=80=A2	Handling uncertain and fragmentary text and image data
	=E2=80=A2	Mining Wikipedia for historical data
	=E2=80=A2	OCR and transcription old texts
	=E2=80=A2	Effective interfaces for searching, browsing or visualizing hist=
orical data collections

** SUBMISSION INFORMATION **

Full paper submissions are limited to 8 pages, while short paper submission=
s should be no more than 4 pages (including bibliography). Submissions need=
 to be:

	=E2=80=A2	formatted according to Easychair paper formatting guidelines (ht=
tps://easychair.org/publications/for_authors).
	=E2=80=A2	original and have not been submitted for publication elsewhere.
	=E2=80=A2	submitted in English in PDF format at the workshop=E2=80=99s Eas=
ychair page (https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=3Dhi20210#).
	=E2=80=A2	submissions do not need to be anonymized.=C2=A0=E2=80=A8

There is no requirement of anonymity so it is up to authors if they wish to=
 reveal or conceal their names in submissions. Submissions will be evaluate=
d by at least three different reviewers with backgrounds in Computer Scienc=
e and History. The accepted papers will be published on CEUR Workshop Proce=
edings (http://ceur-ws.org/).

Selected papers from the workshop will be invited to submit to the special =
issue on HistoInformatics (https://jdmdh.episciences.org/page/histoinformat=
ics) at the Journal of Data Mining and Digital Humanities (https://jdmdh.ep=
isciences.org/).
