How to read long byte columns via odbc

Hello Everybody!

 

I have to read some data from an MAXDB database (SAP-R3) via odbc !

I want to read foreign language material descriptions from a LONG BYTE
column !???

I my application(sql-passthrough via odbc) the resultcursor contains
"object" and can't be read.

How to read long byte columns with odbc???  I only need the first 100
chracaters and have 

to put them into another maxdb database (columntype varchar(100))

 

Any help welcomed
